genARTS Silicon Valley presents the Santa Clara County Virtual Poetry Fellowship facilitated by Keana Aguila Labra.


This weeklong fellowship is open to BIPOC residents of Santa Clara County who want to receive guidance and mentorship towards completing a poetry chapbook manuscript. 

This will be a cohort of 4 poets. 

 

The fellowship runs from April 10-14, 2023 with live workshops 10am - 12pm PST. Intros are held between April 8-9, and a final event will be held on April 16.

This fellow is fully funded, fully remote, and allows for asynchronous participation to remove barriers often faced by emerging BIPOC poets.

 

Who can apply?
  • Emerging poet

    • You have not published a book et, but are preparing a manuscript in the hopes of publishing your first poetry chapbook​

  • Resident of Santa Clara County

    • While this fellowship will be virtual and remote, we want to open this opportunity to serve residents of the Santa Clara County​

  • BIPOC (& Intersecting LGBTQIA+)

    • Offsetting inequities in publishing, this fellowing is only open to BIPOC poets, in particular, those who also belong to the LGBTQIA+ community​

How do you apply?
  1. Submit a poetry packet

    1. Include your best 3-5 poems for consideration​

  2. Provide a statement of interest

    1. Tell us how you would benefit from this free fellowship and how you would "pay it forward" to other BIPOC poets in the area​

  3. Email application by March 10

    1. Email KeanaAguilaLabra@gmail.com with the subject line, "GenARTS Poetry Fellowship application - [FULL NAME]" by March 10, 2023. Include your name, pronouns, and a third-person bio​

A cohort of 4 fellows will be selected and notified by March 31, 2023
